 The Indigo Pub Group owns 19 highly individual pubs across Brighton. Kit Sapseid has been one of their Area Managers for 5 years and manages three of the Indigo sites.

“We are not a typical pub chain. Each bar has their own unique character - student, traditional, Irish, live music venue or football pub, and each attracts a different crowd. Each site will need something slightly different and will be running different promotions, so it’s important that we are able to easily configure the systems. Programming the system is easy. PowerEpos gave us training on how to make changes and we just use a wireless keyboard and make any changes we need there and then. It’s pretty simple and straightforward but they left us a step-by-step user guide just in case we get stuck.”

“Our bars are very well known in Brighton and will get pretty busy on the weekend. They take about 20-25k a week through the tills on average, but on a weekend we could take 7k in one night. It can be 5 deep at the bar sometimes. So, if a till goes down, even for 20 minutes, that is going to lose us a lot of money. But worse than that, is the hit you can take to your reputation. Brighton is a massively competitive pub scene. There are plenty of other pubs and bars to choose from if you’re not happy with having to wait a long time to be served in one. We’ve recently upgraded the system and I’m really pleased with the new tills because they are so reliable. They have very responsive touch screens which really speeds things up.”

“From a manager’s perspective the system has a lot to offer. The reports I get from the system are really useful, I can choose the timescale of the report - day by day or even hour to hour. The level of detail you can get from the reports means I can get our staffing numbers just right, right down to the hour. I’m also planning to install an online monitoring system so I can see what is happening in any of my pubs – revenue, transactions etc.- in live time. It’ll allow me to be in three places at once!”
