Cargo, Shoreditch, London
Up to £80,000 can pass through the tills in Cargo, the Shoreditch nightclub in the course of a busy night. It is one of 17 venues which, together, generate £20 million in gross sales each year. Mark McEvoy, Head of Operations, is responsible for keeping all of them running. He has been with the company from day one, so there isn’t much he doesn’t know about what they need from their EPOS system.
“We can have 2000 people through here on a busy night. Our bartenders are there to get people served and money taken quickly. We call it ‘combat bartender’, and the tills can get a right battering. We’ve set up the screen so it is as simple and easy to use as possible. It’s important that we can customise the system in this way because our bartenders don’t have the time to be fiddling looking for the right buttons, in low light, when there's people waiting at the bar.”
“We are an expanding group of venues. So, another advantage for us is that once you have the system configured the way you want, it’s simple to duplicate the same set up across all the sites. Power EPOS are very responsive when we need to adapt the set up. When we were advised by HMRC to limit error corrections to 1, for example, they re-did all 50 of the tills for us.”
Mark is clear about his primary reason for using PowerEpos.
“It’s the people and the personal relationship we have with them. They are fantastic. We have our own guy and we can always get hold of him. I can't speak highly enough about Jeremy. I know I’ll get what I need on time, and if there are any hiccups we’ll be covered. We’ve got the guys’ personal numbers if we need them and that can be a life-saver.”
